This year we were celebrating Robby's first Christmas! We went to my sister Danielle and brother in-law Chris' house down in Pensacola, Florida. We had a winter white Christmas, except it was sand and about 70 degrees outside. It was such a treat to be with my sisters and parents. My sisters Breanna and Nicole also brought their boyfriends (Tim and Kelsey), which allowed us some time to get to know them better:) Despite a few upsets with everyone trying fly in, we had a very nice time together. Robby loved Danielle and Chris' dog Rocky (which he called 'dog de' so cute!). At first Rocky could not get enough of Robby, licking him whenever he got a chance. But by the time we left, he seemed to lose interest.
It is tradition in our family to wait till Christmas morning to open our gifts. Bobby and I loved watching Robby open his gifts and get excited about ripping the paper! As usual we had a big turkey dinner with all the family. Danielle did an wonderful job on the turkey, very tender and delicious!
Out of all the activities we did that week, the one that stands out the most is Rock Band. Many nights into the wee hours my family would gather around the TV, anxiously waiting for their turn (even my mom joined in!). It did not take long to realize that the drums were going to be a challenge for me.
While there we also celebrated Robby's 1st birthday. He loved his cake. Although, at first he was not sure what to do with it. Most likely he would have eaten the entire cake if we had not taken it away (I think he may have a sweet too like I do!).
Out of all the gifts, the greatest is the one God gave us, his son Jesus Christ. Bobby and I more than anything want Robby and our future children to know how much Jesus loves them, that he died for them so they could be forgiven and be in relationship with our Almighty God. It is our hope and desire that they will one day acknowledge and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We have much to be thankful for because God has lavished us with His grace.
